Jonathan Prynn appointed as Associate Editor, Business.

We are delighted to announce that Jonathan Prynn has been appointed Associate Editor, Business.

Jonathan, who is currently the Evening Standard’s Consumer Business Editor, is one of our most senior and respected journalists.

As well as leading our excellent City team he will continue to contribute front page stories, comment pieces and deep dive news features across our platforms.

Jonathan began his Evening Standard career on the City desk in 1997, and brings 25 years of wisdom and contacts with him as he rejoins the team as its leader.

Acting Editor Charlotte Ross said: “I’m excited to appoint Jonathan to this prestigious role. He was recently made an Associate Editor and his contribution has been indispensable across a range of key business, consumer and economic subjects. Few journalists have such a sound grasp of the business and finance sectors and the vital role they play in London, as well as a deep understanding of the real life impact of economic decisions on ordinary people. I look forward to working closely with Jonathan and being guided by his insights, particularly as the economy takes centre stage as a news story.”

Jonathan Prynn said: “I am delighted and honoured to be appointed to what is one of the best roles in British journalism. It is a great team and I cannot wait to get stuck into the job at a time when the challenges facing the economy, business and the City have rarely been more formidable.”

Jonathan begins his role on Monday 30th May and will write under the byline: Business Editor.

He takes over from Oscar Williams-Grut, who leaves for a new role as Assistant Business Editor at The Telegraph.
