Samantha Herbert promoted to Head of Digital Strategy.

The Evening Standard, London’s most iconic news brand, today announces the promotion of Samantha (Sami) Herbert to the newly created role of Head of Digital Strategy.

Sami will be responsible for driving forward The Evening Standard’s online strategy and diversification, growing The Evening Standard’s audience and working across all departments to deliver a raft of editorial innovations.

This marks a key moment in The Evening Standard’s evolution as a brand focused on delivering exceptional journalism through multiple digital platforms alongside agenda-setting print products.

The creation of this new role underlines The Standard’s continued commitment to its digital-first strategy focused on delivering quality insights and innovative products to its readers and brand partners through multiple touch points including print, digital, audio, social and on the street.

On her new appointment, Sami says: “I'm thrilled to be taking on this new role at such an exciting time for the Standard. We have a range of innovative plans in the pipeline, which will add a vibrant new layer to the Standard brand, and will allow us to deliver our fantastic content to a broader digital audience.”

Sami moves into the role from her position as Associate Audience Editor at The Evening Standard. Prior to this she spent six years at the Telegraph.co.uk as a Homepage Producer and then Senior, Acting and Deputy Editor. She began her career as a News Reporter for MSN and Content Editor on the MSN and Bing News Apps.

She joins The Evening Standard’s senior team and will work closely with Deputy Editor Jack Lefley and Chief Content Officer Anna van Praagh, who have both been promoted to take on new, wider responsibilities. The whole senior team continues to report to Charlotte Ross, Acting Editor of The Evening Standard
