The London Evening Standard and Next Step (Independent Schools Show) are creating an inclusive, annual event that will lead the conversation for teenagers and their parents, helping them to make wise choices:
Helping students (aged 14-18) & their parents through the minefield of education choices - GCSE/BTEC options, 16+ school and college choices, employment and training, 18+ education, apprenticeships & career options, gap year;Content - exciting and engaging as possible through a variety of activations, immersive experiences and commercial extensions;An education focus that ties in with ES’s editorial agenda;Practical advice and support on the key issues facing pupils today, from bullying and body image to options post-school;Parents will get a glimpse of the future of schooling and their child’s future education/career opportunitiesFormat: 2x day event, comprising activations, immersive experiences and commercial extensions, all with an education focus.Successful candidates will demonstrate

The Content Solutions team
The Evening Standard provides award-winning advertising solutions across multiple platforms. Through digital, print, social, video, audio and events, we help brands get noticed, build engagement and drive positive action with the valuable audiences we reach, in London and with scale across the UK. Our teams work closely and collaboratively with editorial, spotting trends and opportunities for key sectors we champion, combining this with best in class data, insights and analytics. Job Purpose
The Content Solutions Manager will be targeted to deliver cross-platform content solutions revenue for the Evening Standard for a specific portfolio of agencies. Targeted revenue will include content solutions, sponsorship, events and promotions, across digital and print. You will do this by building strong relationships with planning and partnership teams, contributing and adding to the teams reputation for creativity, high standards, and delivering best in market content solutions.
About you
You are an experienced and successful sales manager, with a history of dealing with media agencies, specifically planners and partnership teams. You bring a strong understanding of how media platforms work and how they can be best deployed to answer clients’ briefs.
You are results-focused and you are able to use the tools, systems and process with your strong sales skills to reach revenue targets.
You are collaborative and resourceful, able to work with multiple teams and people to create opportunities that clients want to buy.
Skills and Experience:
- Significant media and sales experience.
- Successful sales manager, with a proven track record of hitting revenue targets.
- Multiplatform experience ideal, especially digital and social.
- Must be conversant with all rival media channels and be able to formulate compelling channel arguments.
- Strong pitching and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Understand how to apply creative thinking to marketing needs
- Know how to take an idea and monetise it
- Experience of working with editorial teams
Key responsibilities
- Create a clear agency sales strategy that focuses on delivering revenue targets.
- Respond to all incoming briefs identifying those that we are best suited to win and confidently rejecting those that we believe we won’t.
- Deliver against set revenue targets, goals, objectives and KPI’s.
- To create a plan that will ensure focused levels of proactivity – using agency and client segmentation to prioritise work and drive revenue for all content solutions platforms.
- Create an ongoing flow of communication with Media, Insight, Data, Client and Creative teams; be a highly collaborative operator
- Efficient in the administration and organisation of all reporting– including revenue updates, adPoint (CRM), pipeline and forecasting. Use the tools to report and bring focus to the role.
- To be a key member of the sales team that thrives on creativity and innovation – taking part in internal initiatives, delivering pitch excellence and looking for new ways to deliver revenue growth.
- Regular presentations will be key to the role and driving agency engagement. These will be informative, engaging and useful at all times for our clients.
- Create a flow and process that makes best use of our insight and data to sell ideas, opportunities and packages.
- Drive agency deals and SLA’s, being aware of agency performance.

The role and team
The Data Analyst role is key to ensuring that the commercial team are sufficiently equipped to deliver maximum revenue return for our business as the digital strategy evolves across Evening Standard platforms.
This specialist area requires detailed knowledge of Insight and Data processes and systems that bring data to life in an engaging manner to support the commercial team in the monetisation of the brand.
This role provides a vital link between the established commercial data team, editorial data and the Insight team, providing insights on audiences, subscriptions and behaviours that will be incorporated into the wider commercial brand narrative.
At all times it will be necessary to work across various teams and disciplines to ensure that there is a solid connection between our strategic goals and firm market and brand data. Input will be required across a broad range of activities e.g. sales pitches, Events, Industry bodies, audiences and multimedia market info.

About you
- You will have media research experience (press and online desirable) either within a media owner or advertising/media agency and enjoy working with data
- Excellent data skill with advanced Excel knowledge and preferably SQL, R or Python skills
- Experience or awareness of Nielsen/TGI/PAMCo/ComScore/DMP platforms/Google analytics/Adobe analytics and other information sources and the proven ability to mine data for insights, as well as creating your own useful and usable reports
- A good knowledge of the media agency landscape and experience working with commercial teams on pitches and business development
- Passion for everything data and insight, with an eagerness to understand consumers and identify and share compelling stories
- An understanding of the research opportunities that exist to help to identify and build those stories
- Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely, whether verbally or in written formats
- Creative and commercial thinker; proactive in identifying projects that lead to commercial growth
- Experience of ad effectiveness work and questionnaire writing is desirable
- Able to work independently to a deadline, often managing multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrating a strong work ethic.

About You
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with good knowledge and experience of current affairs on social media. An understanding of SEO is also beneficial. The right candidate will thrive in a busy and exciting digital first newsroom. Working closely with the features desks, you will ensure we are identifying trending on-brand stories for loyal and new readers and deliver them so they reach maximum traffic potential across multiple platforms. A keen interest in current affairs - from politics to film, fashion and celebrity news is a must.
The Audience Team
You will work within a team of social and SEO editors responsible for optimising and posting our content. You will work independently on our features accounts, covering Insider, Reveller, Escapist and Culture on all platforms. You will report into the Head of Social and Audience Editor as well as attending daily meetings with the features team to identify new topics, and discuss strategy for promoting the day's commissions.
Job Purpose
The features social editor is responsible for packaging and posting our Features and Lifestyle content in an engaging manner, understanding the different needs of our users on different platforms. Editors also help to identify on-brand trending stories and topics, offer ideas, and work with journalists across the newsroom to optimise for search and social media to ensure it meets maximum traffic potential. We are looking for individuals with a passion for features and a creative energy that will make our content stand out from other publishers. You should have a strong social voice, able to hit the correct tone in sells on anything from investigations into domestic abuse cases, to Is Kim K with Pete D?
Key responsibilities:
- Package and post ES Features content across all our social channels and platforms
- Cultivate a unique, witty and sharable voice to speak for our Features content
- Engage with our readers in comments to create a loyal online community
- Optimise content to ensure maximum audience reach and engagement
- Identify trending topics to feedback to commissioning editors
- Work as part of the editorial team to ensure all staff are following social and SEO best practices
- Maximising reach and engagement for content across our key verticals / channels
- Keep abreast of developments in the field and advise on potential gains and pitfalls
Skills and experience:
- Experience working in a newsroom environment
- Experience posting on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
- An understanding of TikTok and how-to create social videos
- Should be confident to work independently
- Ability to write engaging headlines and sells
- Ability to identify trends that would make for good potential stories
- Understand the ES brand, tone and audience
- Thinking creatively and pitching ideas on how to make the most of each story on each platform
- A solid understanding of media law
- Video and photo editing experience is a plus.
